7 Ways to Raise a Global Kid--Great Idea

http://kidshealth.org/parent/positive/learning/global.html#cat169

This is the outline for the article--I'm going to put in my 2 cents (or rubles, or euros, or yen, as the case may be.)

1. "See" the World — At Home

And, of course, there's National Geographic for Kids.

2. Talk It Up

Most communities have ethnically inspired events. For example:

Las Vegas Celtic Gathering and Highland Games

In Vegas! And you don't have to be named O'Neill attend.

Communities have so many fun events--loosen up and attend.

3. Let Music Send a Message

For example, teachers, if you're teaching "Riki Tiki Tavi," how wonderful to have Indian music for the students.

Where can you find world music? Our friends at NatGeo, for example.

Here's a link to a page about Ravi Shankar.

4. Spice Up Family Movie Night

And the kids can cook!

5. Give Gifts of the World

I'd go for silk, and those fun Russian Matryoshka dolls.

6. Dip Into a Foreign Language

Don't forget Google translate just for fun.

7. Set Out to Serve

So many ways to help real people around the world.

Lots of families who attend church can also talk with missionaries who serve around the world when they come to visit home churches, and participate in their support.
